Shiatsu is a comprehensive treatment that serves the entire body, mind and spirit during a session. This healing practice incorporates elements of meditation, stretching, breath work and healing touch.
Shiatsu (acupressure) is a form of Japanese bodywork based on the Eastern principles of medicine. Shiatsu includes finger, palm and elbow pressure on acupoints; assisted stretching of the channels, breathing, joint manipulation and mobilization. This method of bodywork is a gentle, dance-like communication between the giver and the receiver. The shiatsu practitioner is trained to sensitively listen through touch and therefore attune to the signals from the receiver. This ensures the receiver is always comfortable.
Shiatsu is performed fully clothed on a mat.
Wear loose clothing during the session, ideally a long-sleeve cotton shirt, pants and socks.
Tightly fitted garments, which restrict your range of motion may limit the effectiveness of treatment.
